USRA Iron Man Races for This Weekend Postponed
Webster City, IA (April 16, 2026) — Officials from the Karl Chevrolet Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa and Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa have announced that this weekend’s USRA Iron Man Series events have been postponed.
With significant rainfall over the past two weekends, both facilities have been unable to get equipment on the racing surface to properly prepare the tracks. Combined with a cold front moving into the area and unseasonably cold temperatures forecasted for race time, officials felt postponing the events was the best decision.
“We are looking forward to getting the season kicked off at both tracks,” said promoter Todd Staley. “But with the forecasted conditions this weekend, it just doesn’t make sense to race.”
While Thursday and Friday are expected to bring mild weather, conditions are projected to deteriorate late Friday afternoon as a cold front arrives. By race time Friday evening, “real feel” temperatures are expected to dip into the upper 30s, along with the possibility of additional precipitation.
Saturday’s outlook shows continued challenges, with temperatures feeling like the mid-40s and winds reaching up to 20+ mph. Similar conditions are expected Sunday in Mason City, where strong winds blowing into the grandstands would make for a tough environment for both fans and competitors.
Track officials are currently evaluating make-up dates for the Hamilton County Speedway event, while also monitoring the upcoming schedule for potential openings. The Mason City Motor Speedway event will be rescheduled in coordination with the Webster City date.
Additionally, an open practice session at Mason City Motor Speedway is being planned and is expected to be announced early next week.
Fans and teams are encouraged to stay tuned to official track and series social media channels for further updates.
