Chisholm Secures NLMS Opener with Late Race Pass
FOUNTAIN CITY, Wisconsin (April 30, 2026)- Joe Chisholm used a late-race pass Thursday night at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin, to drive into Wehrs Machine Victory Lane and claim the season-opening win for the Kevko Racing Northern Lights Modified Series Presented by Real Racing Wheels.
Alex Williamson qualified on the pole and led the majority of the 25-lap feature, but a late battle with Kyle Brown opened the bottom groove in turns one and two. Chisholm took advantage, slipped past, and pulled away unchallenged for the victory.
Brown, making a rare NLMS start, held on for second, while Williamson finished third. Williamson’s podium run earned him a $250 certificate from series title sponsor Kevko Racing. Jacob Blees and Parker Hale completed the top five.
Several partners added extra awards to the night. Brown was the highest-finishing driver on four Real Racing Wheels and will receive two new wheels courtesy of Real Racing Wheels and Boubin Tire. Joe Ludemann earned the PEM Racing Products Hard Charger Award after advancing six positions, and also received $100 from the World of Outlaws for passing the most cars.
With the victory, Chisholm becomes the only driver eligible for the Wehrs Machine $5,000 clean sweep bonus. He is also eligible for an additional $1,000 bonus if he wins one of the two remaining features.
Earlier in the night, Jacob Blees set fast time with a blistering lap of 15.857 seconds to earn the Deatherage Opticians Fast Time Award. Heat race wins went to Chisholm, Brown and Harley Dais.
Racing continues Friday with a $2,000-to-win feature and concludes Saturday with $3,000 on the line for the winner. Big thanks are in order for both Mississippi Thunder and Deer Creek Speedways for covering weekend entry fees.
